Governor Dayton vetoes Anti-PEIP legislation
On April 23rd, Gov. Mark Dayton vetoed a bill that would have restricted the right for unions to join the Public Employees Insurance Program (PEIP). The bill would have required an employer's approval when a union voted to join PEIP for their health insurance. Gov. Dayton remarked in a letter accompaning his veto, "It is troubling that the legislature would consider a measure like this to restrict competition in the insurance markplace."
